In this manual, you will see how to verify your domain ownership in Google Workspace and how to configure your hosting service to use Google Workspace email (Gmail).

You will also be able to see how to create an SPF record to protect yourself against spoofing and phishing, and thus prevent your messages from being marked as spam.

Verify your domain in Google Workspace

Once you have signed up for Google Workspace, the first step you must take is to verify your domain ownership.

To verify your domain ownership, you must create a TXT record in your DNS Zone using a unique security token provided to you from the Google Admin Console.

Alias Record type Content
Empty TXT You can find your unique security token in the verification instructions of the Google Admin Console.

The token is a 68-character string that starts with 'google-site-verification=', followed by another 43 characters.

Example:

google-site-verification=rXOxyZounnZasA8Z7oaD3c14JdjS9aKSWvsR1EbUSIQ

You can create the TXT record to verify your domain ownership through SWPanel by following the steps in the following manual:

Configure Google Workspace email MX records

Next, you must access the Google Admin Console and retrieve the MX records to be created in your DNS Zone to use Google Workspace email (Gmail).

danger If your users use email accounts with your domain name (for example, [email protected]), you will need to create their email accounts manually through the Google Admin Console before configuring the MX records so they can continue receiving email.

If you signed up for Google Workspace before April 2023, the records to be created in your DNS Zone are as follows:

Alias Record type Priority Destination
Empty or @ MX 1 ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM
Empty or @ MX 5 ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM
Empty or @ MX 5 ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM
Empty or @ MX 10 ALT3.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM
Empty or @ MX 10 ALT4.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM

If you signed up for Google Workspace after April 2023, it will only be necessary to create one MX record in your DNS Zone:

Alias Record type Priority Destination
Empty or @ MX 1 SMTP.GOOGLE.COM

You can create the MX records to use Google email servers through SWPanel by following the steps in the following manual:

info It may take between 48 and 72 hours before you start receiving your emails at your new Google Workspace email address. In the meantime, you can continue to receive your emails in the email client you have used until now.

Avoid spoofing and spam by adding Google SPF to your DNS Zone

Protect yourself against spoofing and phishing, and prevent your messages from being marked as spam. SPF is an email authentication method that protects against spoofing and prevents servers from marking your messages as spam.

It helps identify the servers authorized to send messages on behalf of your domain, preventing your emails from being misinterpreted as unwanted. Implementing SPF is crucial to protect your domain's reputation and ensure the secure delivery of your emails.

danger Before creating the Google SPF record, you must first remove the current SPF record from your DNS Zone.

Alias Record type Destination
Empty SPF (TXT) v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com ~all

info If you add the SPF record for a subdomain, you must specify the subdomain in the Alias field, and not @.

You can create the SPF record through SWPanel by following the steps in the following manual:
